Surgeon Spotlight

Josh Murphy, MD

I’m originally from West Virginia, where I also attended both undergraduate and medical school. I chose pediatric orthopaedics, specifically spinal deformity, as an interest early in residency. I had an interest in neuroanatomy and neurophysiology early on in medical school and this was a natural progression for me. Treating spinal deformities allows us to have a significant impact in the life of a child.

In pediatrics, many of us believe we are working for something greater than ourselves and working with patients with spinal deformities allows us to accomplish this. Frequently, the goal of many children is to just be normal and play with their friends. We take this very seriously in our practice and work to help our patients any way we can.

The majority of my free time is spent with my wife, Nikki, and 2 daughters, Alexandra and Victoria. When not working, we are frequent travelers and I spend as much time alpine skiing and surfing as I can. As a hobby, I’ve recently taken up fly fishing and have enjoyed my time in rivers and streams throughout North America.
