Stronger Together
We created four patient committees to give scoliosis patients meaningful ways to get involved, share their experiences, and support our community through a variety of impactful projects. If you’re interested in joining, please take a moment to explore the different committees we offer and select the one that feels like the best fit for you.
Because space may be limited in some committees, we cannot guarantee placement in a specific group. Applicants may be added to a waitlist and contacted as soon as a spot becomes available.

Patient Research Advisory Committee
Our Patient Research Advisory Committee (PRAC) brings together medical students who want to make a difference in scoliosis research. By helping guide research toward the questions that matter most to families. The committee strengthens communication between patients, parents, and researchers, and advocates for studies that truly improve quality of life and long‑term outcomes. Members also offer thoughtful feedback on new and ongoing research projects.

Patient Volunteer Committee
Our Patient Volunteer Committee gives scoliosis patients a meaningful way to give back by supporting SSS throughout the year on a variety of projects. Volunteers help create social media content, assist with fundraising efforts, spread scoliosis awareness, and contribute to developing new educational tools for newly diagnosed patients and their families—all while earning signed volunteer hours for school or community requirements, along with recommendation letters.

Patient Support Committee
Our Patient Support Committee offers scoliosis patients with 10 years post treatment a meaningful way to connect with others. This group is made up of long‑term patients who were diagnosed young, completed treatment, and are now living full, active lives. While they don’t provide direct one‑on‑one communication with newly diagnosed patients, they offer valuable insight, encouragement, and guidance that can help families feel less alone as they navigate treatment and recovery.
