Serena Meisenheimer joined the SSS Patient Volunteer Committee in 2026, and we are thrilled to welcome her to the team. Serena brings enthusiasm, empathy, and a strong desire to support other young patients who may be navigating the emotional and physical challenges of scoliosis. As she begins her volunteer journey with us, she is excited to learn, grow, and make a meaningful impact while gaining valuable experience alongside our team.

Serena’s scoliosis journey began in middle school, when she was diagnosed and began bracing 24/7 for three years. Although she hoped treatment would stabilize her curve, she later discovered a tethered cord that caused her scoliosis to progress, ultimately leading to spinal surgery during high school. Despite the setbacks, Serena stayed committed to her health, her academics, and her love for performing arts. Her resilience—and the support of her family—shaped her desire to help other teens feel less alone and more empowered throughout their own scoliosis experience.

We are grateful to have Serena as part of our volunteer community and look forward to the positivity, creativity, and compassion she brings to the team.
