We are excited to announce the publication of our newest book. This book was written and illustrated by two scoliosis patients who have each traveled through their own bracing and surgery journeys. While the names, characters, and places are loosely inspired by their personal experiences, this story is a work of fiction created to encourage, comfort, and entertain children navigating scoliosis.
For young patients who are newly diagnosed, this book offers a gentle and relatable way to understand what scoliosis can feel like day‑to‑day. Through simple storytelling and friendly illustrations, it helps kids see that they are not alone, that others have walked this path before them, and that courage, support, and hope can be part of their journey too. Our goal is to provide a reassuring companion—something that makes the experience a little less scary and a lot more empowering.
If your hospital or institution would like to sponsor printed hard‑copy versions of this book, please contact us at info@ssshsg.org. Your support helps us place this book into the hands of young patients around the world who need encouragement and guidance on their scoliosis journey.

Diya Baldawa
Book Author
Diya Baldawa is a scoliosis patient who has walked through bracing, surgery, fear, courage, and everything in between. She knows what it feels like to face doctors, X‑rays, and big emotions, and she understands the loneliness and uncertainty that can come with a scoliosis diagnosis. Through her own journey, she learned the power of patience, support, and self‑love, and she wrote this book to help other kids feel seen, understood, and never alone. Diya hopes her story brings comfort, strength, and encouragement to every reader beginning their own path.

Divya Dow
Book Illustrator
Divya Dow is also a scoliosis patient who wore a brace and undergone spinal fusion surgery. After wearing a brace for years and undergoing spinal fusion surgery, she discovered that drawing was her way of expressing the moments that are hard to explain with words. Her illustrations in this book reflect both the challenging and the hopeful sides of a scoliosis journey, created to help kids feel understood rather than intimidated. Divya hopes her artwork offers comfort, clarity, and a reminder that a diagnosis is only one part of who you are—and that every challenge you overcome helps shape a stronger, braver future.
