Sasha Dambal joined the SSS Patient Volunteer Committee in 2026, bringing her compassion, positivity, and lived experience as a scoliosis patient to our community. She is passionate about helping others feel seen, supported, and empowered throughout their scoliosis journey, and she is eager to use her voice to raise awareness and encourage early education for families navigating a new diagnosis.
Sasha’s scoliosis journey began at age seven, when she was first diagnosed and began Schroth Therapy. Over the years, she faced rapid curve progression, eventually requiring a Rigo‑Cheneau brace at age ten. Although the brace was initially uncomfortable and emotionally challenging, Sasha committed to wearing it an average of 18 hours a day for nearly three years. Her dedication paid off—she not only avoided surgery but reduced her curve from 32 degrees to 14 degrees. Today, she shares her story with pride, hoping to motivate other patients to stay strong, stay consistent, and believe in their ability to overcome obstacles.
As part of our volunteer team, Sasha is contributing to ongoing awareness efforts and offering meaningful support to patients and families who are currently traveling through their own scoliosis experience. We are grateful to welcome her to the SSS community and look forward to the impact she will make as she helps us inspire hope, connection, and confidence in others.
